The launch of Limited Edition at Whistles is highly anticipated each season, with each new limited run designed to turn heads and spark fresh conversations. This time, we wanted to take a closer look at each piece and delve deeper into the designs. To gain more insight, we spoke with Gemma Hyde, Head of Design, about the creative process behind the collection’s standout pieces.

“The intention of Limited Edition: Pre-Fall 24 was to create a considered edit for a luxury summer wardrobe,” explains Gemma Hyde, Head of Design at Whistles. “Combining modern detailing and a feminine sensibility, these pieces are designed to carry you through the summer, wherever your travels may take you.”

While winter is all about clever layering, summer focuses on chic separates. The beauty lies in the ability to pack just a few pieces in your luggage that can form the basis of multiple outfits. “Here we see a luxe linen mix co-ord embroidered with a whimsical meadow scene in a simple shirt and short, mixing clean edges with a soft touch,” says Gemma about the Embroidered Scribble Short and Shirt, designed in an easy, wearable neutral shade.

For a more pared-back approach, a black tailored set provides a versatile work-to-weekend duo, perfectly completed with minimalist leather sandals. As Gemma highlights, “Sharp lines and a summer-tailored silhouette are achieved with a sculpted waistcoat and leg-lengthening trouser in classic black, set to be a must-have that will transcend seasons.”

Meanwhile, crochet brings a free-spirited feel: “A swirling crochet pattern hints at ammonites and seashells on a dress and co-ord with a delicate scalloped edge. Mother of Pearl buttons further echo the oceanic connection,” and this design also takes shape on a sleek, black, skin-baring midi dress, perfect for holiday and elevated festival styling.
