Print Play: The Must-Have Motifs To Style This Summer And Beyond
As we bask in the sun and make plans extending beyond sundown, whether at home or away, we’re looking for styles to have fun with. After taking our edit of summer staples to Barcelona earlier this season, we’ve embraced a fresh approach that allows us to dress for anything whilst being more experimental with colours, prints and silhouettes.
This is the season for maximalists to rejoice and inspire brand new style agendas; we’ve rounded up the motifs that have got us talking right now; from abstract shapes and bandana prints to checkerboard shells and oversized daisies.
THE PLAYFUL CHECKERBOARD SHELLS
Stacked playfully, these checkerboard shells in a chartreuse shade encourage spontaneity, especially when set across a chic co-ord made for mixing and matching. For a look that packs a punch, style the co-ord in full with stacked necklaces that cascade by length and modern sunglasses. If you’re looking for a more understated approach, try our Checkerboard Shell Cleo Skirt or Midi Dress in a softer colour combination of blue and pale ice cream. Both silhouettes are effortless with slip-on appeal for when temperatures start to soar – just add a pair of simple sandals.
THE SCALED-UP DAISY PRINT
Designed in two classic monochrome styles, this black and white take on the daisy has been scaled up for a touch more drama, should the occasion call for it. Crafted from breathable cotton, the top is shirred through the bodice, and the skirt is shirred through the waist for added comfort. When styled together, they look bold and elegant, so add to the retro feel of this look with nostalgic accessories; think oversized sunglasses and statement sunhats. When you want to wear the staples as standalone pieces, try the top with classic white jeans or the skirt with a relaxed vest top in black or white.
THE ART-INSPIRED ABSTRACT MOTIF
Inspired by the work of Bauhaus artist Kandinsky, our Limited Edition abstract prints take form across light-as-air midi dresses and a cool co-ord for the height of summer. The shapes dip in and out of blue, green and yellow tones, which look chic when set against the collection’s white and baby blue fabrics. We’re envisaging outfits from courtside looks at Wimbledon to beachside looks abroad with these nonchalant staples. The white dress is a highlight and will bare the shoulders during heat waves whilst striking the perfect balance between effortless yet dressed up this summer.
THE FREE-SPIRITED BANDANA PRINT
Is there any print quite as cool as the bandana motif? We’ve brought it back for the high summer months in a spot and floral variation across shorts, a bowling shirt, a midi dress and a jumpsuit – all in versatile shades of blue. When packing for the beach, the jumpsuit brings relaxed style to the forefront and will billow beautifully in warm winds, whilst the shorts and overshirt combination give a throw-on-and-go solution to style over swimwear. If you’re still looking for something to wear for a special occasion, the figure-skimming shirt dress can be styled with heeled sandals and gold-toned jewellery.
THE LIVELY CORA BIG LEAF
Forget everything you know about occasionwear; this dress has new ideas. Crafted from a luxurious silk fabric for a feeling of decadence, it has been modernised with a bold, prominent leaf motif in a vivid shade of orange. As a result, it feels distinctive yet elegant for an array of occasions – from weddings to al fresco dinners and garden parties. The shape creates interest with voluminous sleeves elevating it even more and the midi length bringing versatility. Style with everything from heels to easy flat sandals and go big with contemporary, chunky jewellery – after all, sometimes more is more. This is a dress that deserves to be spoken about.
